The term Doula (pronounced doo-la) is derived from an ancient Greek word which has come to mean ‘mother the mother’.
Today, a Doula provides support and information to a birthing woman and her partner, and provides continuous support throughout labour.
Research shows* that when a Doula is present at a birth, women have:
- shorter labours
- fewer medical interventions
- fewer caesareans
- fathers stay more involved
- women are more satisfied with their experience.
Exchange fear with trust. Whether this is your first time or your last time, our doula service will provide you with support to find your way and to make your own choices.
We will help you find the tools to plan the birth that you want.
Our Doula service generally includes two or more visits pre-birth, attendance at the labour and birth and one to two visits post-birth.
